Benefits of CBD Oil

I’ve been hearing a lot lately about people who are taking “CBD Oil”. They say it helps with a variety of health issues such as pain relief, reduced anxiety, improved sleep and a multitude of other ailments.

Another note that peaked my interest is that some horse owners feed hemp seeds to their horses. So, of course, I had to look into it. Also I was having trouble finding the usual organic sunflower seeds I regularly feed and was concerned about an alternative solution.

Anyway, I did not know that much about CBD (aka cannabidiol) scientifically. My research indicated there are a few types of cannabis plants (already learned something!). I also found out there’s a body system called the endocannabinoid system being studied by the medical community to examine the effect of these plants on diseases.

The two main types are:

  • Cannabis Sativa is said by some to be used for nausea, migraines, or chronic pain. This plant variety may be stimulating and invigorating.

  • Cannabis Indica is said by some to be used for insomnia, anxiety, or muscle spasms. This variety of plant may be sedating or relaxing.

There are synthetics on the market but I know from my essential oil experience that synthetics are NOT the same and can cause other ill side affects.

There are lots of hybrid varieties but the above listed are the main two groups.

It turns out that hemp seeds are nutritional powerhouses containing high amounts of proteins and good fats, benefit skin health, aid digestion and much more yet to be studied. My horses have been eating a small amount of hemp seeds for just under a month. I have noticed they are shinier and less reactive even on windy days.

There is plenty to learn!
